OOH LA LA Magnifique

To all you romantics out there - take our advice and visit Paris.

We stayed at the Hôtel Louvre Saint-Romain which was a little hotel about 2 minutes walk from the Louvre. A great location in the city centre at 5-7, Rue Saint Roch. The room was comfy and was decidedly larger than the one we had in London.

Once we had dropped of our luggage, we set out to walk up the Champs-Élysées which is of course the most famous, fashionable street in Paris. There are cafes and luxury shops all the way up the avenue and it is reportedly one of the most expensive strips of real estate in the world.

People often refer to the Champs-Élysées as La plus belle avenue du monde or the most beautiful avenue in the world. Well we walked and walked, past the parks and on up toward the Arc de Triompe which is located at the far end of the Champs-Élysées.

We crossed over bridges adorned with gold statues that sparkled in the warm sunlight. Here is a picture of the Pont Alexander III which is the most ornate bridge in Paris. This bridge was opened in 1900 by Tsar Nicholas to celebrate the Franco-Russian alliance.

Here is one of the pillars of the Pont Alexander III bridge.
