We stopped to fill up the hire car on the way to Epcot. I Couldn’t find the button to open the fuel tank so had to ask another customer where the tank button is usually placed in American cars. He found it rather amusing as he informed me that you open it with your finger. Sure enough there is a lip on the lid that you just pull open. I haven’t had to do that for years in Australia. Meanwhile Paula was operating the bowser. After putting in the credit card we couldn’t work out how to operate the fuel…

Day 3 at Disney World – Epcot Center
Day 2 at Disney World – Magic Kingdom
After our experience yesterday we decided to take it easy today with just one park instead of two. We also had a sleep in even though we were going to get up early to take advantage of the early morning Magic Hours which allow Disney resort guests to get into the park one hour earlier than the general public. We decided to have breakfast at the park so headed straight for the shuttle bus which is right outside the hotel and made our way to the park. We headed straight to Splash Mountain and queued for about 15 minutes. While…
Our Disney World MGM Studios Experience
After hitting the Animal Kingdom Park this morning we made our way back to our hotel for a good rest. We were really tired but were determined to see MGM Studios that night as they had a evening Extra Magic Hours on for the park so we wanted to make the most of it. We dragged ourselves to the shuttle bus and headed off to the park. We really should have stayed at home as the time at Animal Kingdom had really tired us out and we could barely put one foot in front of the other. Our plan was…
Animal Kingdom at Disney World
For our first day at Disney World we decided to go to Animal Kingdom. Originally we weren’t even going to attend this park because we only had three days at Disney but we are so glad that we ended up going because it is one of the best parks at Disney. We woke up fairly early as this morning this park was having its morning Magic Hours which means that resort guests can get into the park before the general public. We made our way out to the front of our hotel to wait for the shuttle bus to the park…
Eating at Port Orleans French Quarter – Disney World
During our stay at the Port Orleans French Quarter hotel we ate at the resort restaurant on a number of occasions. Disney call it a Quick Service Restaurant but it isn’t actually a restaurant – it is more of a food court where you select the foods at a counter and then wait as the food is prepared. You then take your meal on a tray to the check-out to purchase it and then make your way to one of the many tables and chairs made available in the hall. The foods ranged from pizzas, fries, hamburgers, bbq ribs, hot…
Arriving at Disney World
We had just driven from the Kennedy Space Center to Miami. It didn’t seem to take too long – maybe an hour and a half and we were in Orlando. Getting from Highway 95 to our hotel wasn’t too harrowing. The signage is pretty good and we eventually found the sign to our hotel at the Port Orleans French Quarter. We drove into the main driveway but had no idea how to check-in or where to park the car so I hopped out and asked the guy sitting under the Bell Services sign. With directions in hand we made our…
Kennedy Space Center
Arriving into the Kennedy Space Center was a bit of an event. We finally made it after driving for about 3 ½ hours from Miami and managed to turn off too soon so we were driving around Coco Beach for a while until we found where we supposed to go. Once we parked the car we made our way to the entrance and found that there are two types of tickets to choose from – one a Kennedy Space Center Tour and the other the NASA Up-Close Tour. Since we had arrived quite late we decided on the first tour…
Highway 95 to Cape Canaveral
Okay, so we have worked out the principles of driving on the right side of the road – follow the car in front and always remember that the driver is on the side of the medium strip. Here we are on highway 95 going north when all of a sudden the road changes it’s name and we see highway 95 on an underpass running parallel to us. “How the blazes did that happen?” Okay – panic stations, now what. We turn off at Fort Lauderdale to see if we can find out how to get back onto Highway 95. A…
Leaving Miami
Tuesday morning and it is time for us to pick up the rental car. Avis is just a short walk from the hotel, straight up Chopin Place and on up NW 2nd St. We have hired a two door silver colored Cobalt. So after receiving instructions on how to get back to the hotel off we go. Well thank goodness most of the streets are one way, it gives me time to work out where to make turns, as I am now sitting in the car on the left hand side and driving on the opposite side of the road….
