On To San Gimignano

We head of to San Gimignano. None of this was pre-planned, we are just driving to whereever takes our fancy at the time. We are used to driving in Australia where the distances between major cities is vast. So we find it odd that everything is so close to reach. The following morning we have a tour booked to Pisa so we don’t want to go there today, but we keep coming upon signs saying we are almost there. Mid Morning in Siena, Italy

After strolling around the streets, well hardly a stroll really as the place is very hilly, so it was more like – after mountain climbing up and down the narrow, uneven cobbled streets, we crossed the piazza to enter the beautiful Duomo. This stunning building is Gothic in design except for the Romanesque style Campanile. The floor is etched and inlaid marble is one of the most impressive in all of Italy.
