Simba and Nala - The Lion KingSo today is the day we go to the time share presentation. I am full of confidence about not getting sucked into anything. But really I have been looking into getting a time share in the US for some time now.

So we catch the Deuce bus down to the Mandalay Bay Casino where we check in with the very friendly staff. I know they are friendly because they want your money, I hear you all say. But stay with me here.

Well we check in at the Mandalay  and take the shuttle along with a number of other couples, down Las Vegas Bld to the Grandview units where we sit in a room waiting for our allocated representative to arrive. Finally our lady arrives and I am delighted to say that I feel an instant affinity with her plus she is very friendly and not at all pushy.

We are offered sandwiches and coffee, tea etc and then we go into a room where a young woman gives an hour presentation about the time share and the benefits of purchasing this particular deal and I have to say, she was amazing. Again no hard sell just some straight forward facts about what we were going to see and hear.

Now like you I have read all the horror stories about Grandview, but I have to say that my experience has been very pleasant. Maybe others just haven’t met the right people and if you are looking for someone to deal with, ask for a’Maria Hanson.   She and her manager Mike will make sure you get the best deal possible.

a”Maria tells us that she won’t be putting any pressure or hard sell on us as she knows this isn’t for everyone, and true to her word we talked about so many different things over the course of the day.

Then its off upstairs to another room to go over the deal in more detail and to go and see the units which are beautifully appointed and have everything to make this a home away from home.  The units are large and have a king sized bedroom, spa bath, a queen sized pull out bed in the lounge, tv, dvd, microwave, washing machine and dryer, as I say everything you need to be comfortable after a day spent traipsing the Strip.

You can purchase a single unit or a double that sleeps up to 8 people.  I am ready for this so I sign up for a double unit. I am thinking of all the benefits having a timeshare would mean to family and friends.

So we pay the deposit and sign the dotted line, I am really excited. But then reality sets in and I realise that this is a bit more than I want to take on at this time, so I decide to revoke the contract until I am better placed to buy the unit outright. Financing the deal is not an option I want to take on at the moment.

I let a’Maria know what I am doing, and Mike phones me to give me a fax number to send the form to.  There is no unpleasantness over the fact I am going to cancel at this stage.

It will take 15 days to receive the deposit back, but this is clearly stated in the policy and I have no doubt that I will receive my money back in the allotted timeframe.

So although I still don’t have my timeshare, I know where to get an excellent quality one quickly, easily and pleasantly.

And we got to see the Lion King at the Mandalay Bay for $50.00 for two, and I think that was a good deal. Loved the show, it is truly amazing with lots of fantastic music and color. I certainly recommend you see it when you are in Vegas.

The Mandalay Bay Theatre is beautifully appointed and the seating was good, even with people in front of me I had a clear view of the stage.
