Yesterday we discussed what we were going to do as at this stage we still had nothing booked for the next two days. We eventually decided to remain in Las Vegas and found a great deal online through Expedia.com at the Gold Coast Hotel which is right across the road from the Rio Hotel. This meant that we only needed to walk across the road with our luggage to change hotels. The hotel cost us $59US a night which is a bargain as although the hotel is not to the same standard as the Rio Hotel it is real value for…

Affiliate Summit Las Vegas 2008
One of the major reasons for our trip to the US was to attend the Affiliate Summit convention in Las Vegas. For those who would like to know what the Affiliate Summit is all about can click here for more info. The Summit is held twice a year and we attended the last one in Miami in July 2007 which was our first time at one of these conventions. At that time, we were nervous and weren’t entirely sure how to even approach the various exhibitors so we didn’t get quite as much out of it as we should have. This…
Rio Hotel Las Vegas – Hotel Review
The main reason for our trip to Las Vegas was to attend The Affiliate Summit which was held at the Rio Hotel so it made good sense for us to stay there during this time. As we found out when we came over to the States for the Affiliate Summit in Maimi in 2007, it is so much more convenient if you stay at the venue. The airport shuttle dropped us off right outside the door and there was a queue to check in. Check in was quick and simple and the chap behind the desk was pleasant. We were…
Day 2 in Lovely Las Vegas
After visiting the Affiliate Marketing expo this morning, where we caught up with James and Arlene Martell, who introduced us to Greg Sheppard who runs an Affiliate Network that we will be utilising for our websites in the near future, we decided to go and do the laundry. We piled all our clothes into a suitcase and set off. When we asked the bell hop to point us in the right direction to the 24hr laundromat in Arvill St he firstly looked shocked that we wanted to walk and then mentioned that it was quite a long way off and we…
Gambling at Las Vegas Airport and Arriving at the Rio Hotel
After disembarking from the plane at Las Vegas we find it rather amusing that the first thing we come across in the arrivals lounge is an area with slot machines (poker machines). They want that tourist dollar from the moment you land. After taking photos of the entertainment we set off to find our bags. There is a very, very long walk to the baggage claim carousel but fortunately our bags are among the first ones off the plane. Then its off to find a shuttle to the hotel. Once again there is very little signage and we take the wrong…
The Hollywood Celebrity Hotel – Los Angeles – Hotel Review
After a rather long day having set out from our Hawaii hotel at 5am, and finally arriving at The Celebrity Hotel at around 6pm we were just looking forward to having a shower and having a cup of tea. Paula had already advised me not to expect too much from the hotel as it was only 2 star. So it was nice to be pleasantly surprised when we arrived. The check in process was easy and the receptionist was friendly. The foyer has pictures of stars and some comfortable chairs to sit while you wait for transport and it is…
More Of The New Zealand Connection
This isn’t one of our usual travel posts, but it ties in with the trip my husband Valentine and I took to New Zealand in 2007. And I wanted to make sure the kids got to see this before Paula and I set of for the US next week, and we start writing about that trip. Our beautiful niece Jenny (pictured left) sent over a number of family photos of her brother Roy’s marriage to Kay, from ‘the Old Days’ as the grandkids like to call them. And so that the kids can see that I am not the only one wearing…
An Eventful Trip to Tara
It seems to me that every time I drive to Tara it is raining and this week was no exception. We are in the process of moving from the beach in Brisbane to a rural area in Queensland which is a good 5 hour drive, although everyone tells me it is only 3-4 hours. So we are off with the car trailer loaded up with stuff in the first of our moves. We are going to do this progressively a bit at a time. Right! apart from the rain everything is going smoothly until we are on a down hill run, just…
A Bit About Kaimkillenbun in Queensland
Nowadays we take what is considered to be the back road when we go to Tara. It’s more scenic than taking the highway through Ipswich and Toowoomba. Unfortunately, the roads are quite a lot rougher and in places there is only a dirt road and no tarseal. Still it means we get to drive through places such as Kaimkillenbun or ‘The Bun’ as it is known locally. Kaimkillenbun has the longest name for a town in Queensland. Accomodation and great meals are available at the local pub. The town is a regular finalist for the Tidy Town award and has also won…
