After our luxurious stay at Caesars Palace, we moved to Downtown Las Vegas to the Golden Nugget Hotel and Casino. We hadn’t seen the downtown part of town yet and thought that the best way to experience it was to actually stay there. Our first thought was to catch the monorail to the Stratoshpere and walk the rest of the way to The Golden Nugget. Thank goodness we decided against this action and decided to cab it. We got into a taxi at Caesars Palace and the driver proceeded to tell us a little about the area including the fact…

Moving To Downtown Las Vegas from The Strip
More Views of Caesar’s Palace
The decor of Caesar’s Palace is based on roman architecture and statuary. As we both loved Rome when we visited there in 2001, and can’t wait to return, strolling through Caesar’s palace was a joy as there are replica’s of all our favourite things. Strolling past the Trevi Fountain was an opportunity to throw in a couple of coins as we had done at the original Trevi Fountain in Rome, there is a life sized replica of the Statue of David plus many other statues such as the Venus de Milo. The corridors are reminiscent of the streets of Rome…
Hotel Review: Caesars Palace Hotel & Casino – Palace Tower Deluxe Room
As a treat, we decided to check into Caesars Palace for a couple of nights. We had walked through the hotel a number of times and just loved it so when we found a really cheap rate on their website for $150US per night for their spa package we decided to take it. The hotel is located in an absolutely prime position on The Strip. You really can’t get much better than this. Yesterday we checked in and it was an interesting experience. The gentleman at the front desk offered us an upgraded room. He told us it would be…
Driving from Las Vegas to The Grand Canyon
On Friday 29 Feb 2008, we have breakfast in the Monterey room at the Gold Coast Hotel, which is great value for money, then check out and load up the car for our trip from Las Vegas to the Grand Canyon. It takes a while to set up the GPS system because the gadget has difficulty recognising “Grand Canyon” and eventually we type in the name of the Holiday Inn hotel where we will be staying in Tusayan for a couple of days. Getting out of the city wasn’t as much of a hassle as we thought it would be,…
More Decisions and Picking up the Rental Car from Alamo
Yesterday we discussed what we were going to do as at this stage we still had nothing booked for the next two days. We eventually decided to remain in Las Vegas and found a great deal online through Expedia.com at the Gold Coast Hotel which is right across the road from the Rio Hotel. This meant that we only needed to walk across the road with our luggage to change hotels. The hotel cost us $59US a night which is a bargain as although the hotel is not to the same standard as the Rio Hotel it is real value for…
Affiliate Summit Las Vegas 2008
One of the major reasons for our trip to the US was to attend the Affiliate Summit convention in Las Vegas. For those who would like to know what the Affiliate Summit is all about can click here for more info. The Summit is held twice a year and we attended the last one in Miami in July 2007 which was our first time at one of these conventions. At that time, we were nervous and weren’t entirely sure how to even approach the various exhibitors so we didn’t get quite as much out of it as we should have. This…
Rio Hotel Las Vegas – Hotel Review
The main reason for our trip to Las Vegas was to attend The Affiliate Summit which was held at the Rio Hotel so it made good sense for us to stay there during this time. As we found out when we came over to the States for the Affiliate Summit in Maimi in 2007, it is so much more convenient if you stay at the venue. The airport shuttle dropped us off right outside the door and there was a queue to check in. Check in was quick and simple and the chap behind the desk was pleasant. We were…
Day 2 in Lovely Las Vegas
After visiting the Affiliate Marketing expo this morning, where we caught up with James and Arlene Martell, who introduced us to Greg Sheppard who runs an Affiliate Network that we will be utilising for our websites in the near future, we decided to go and do the laundry. We piled all our clothes into a suitcase and set off. When we asked the bell hop to point us in the right direction to the 24hr laundromat in Arvill St he firstly looked shocked that we wanted to walk and then mentioned that it was quite a long way off and we…
Gambling at Las Vegas Airport and Arriving at the Rio Hotel
After disembarking from the plane at Las Vegas we find it rather amusing that the first thing we come across in the arrivals lounge is an area with slot machines (poker machines). They want that tourist dollar from the moment you land. After taking photos of the entertainment we set off to find our bags. There is a very, very long walk to the baggage claim carousel but fortunately our bags are among the first ones off the plane. Then its off to find a shuttle to the hotel. Once again there is very little signage and we take the wrong…
