After our luxurious stay at Caesars Palace, we moved to Downtown Las Vegas to the Golden Nugget Hotel and Casino. The decor of Caesar’s Palace is based on roman architecture and statuary. As we both loved Rome when we visited there in 2001, and can’t wait to return, strolling through Caesar’s palace was a joy as there are replica’s of all our favourite things. As a treat, we decided to check into Caesars Palace for a couple of nights. We had walked through the hotel a number of times and just loved it so when we found a really cheap rate on their website for $150US per night for their spa package we decided to take it. On Friday 29 Feb 2008, we have breakfast in the Monterey room at the Gold Coast Hotel, which is great value for money, then check out and load up the car for our trip from Las Vegas to the Grand Canyon. Yesterday we discussed what we were going to do as at this stage we still had nothing booked for the next two days. We eventually decided to remain in Las Vegas and found a great deal online through Expedia.com at the Gold Coast Hotel which is right across the road from the Rio Hotel. After disembarking from the plane at Las Vegas we find it rather amusing that the first thing we come across in the arrivals lounge is an area with slot machines (poker machines). They want that tourist dollar from the moment you land. After taking photos of the entertainment we set off to find our bags.
