Later in the evening we joined thousands of New Yorkers to attend the 2007 Fourth of July fireworks on the banks of the East River. We almost didn’t make it because as soon as we left our hotel it started to pour down with rain. Fortunately there were plenty of enterprising vendors selling umbrellas so we bought one for $10 and proceeded down to the river.
