Overall this was a great experience and I would definitely go back again on my next visit to Singapore.

We had been to the day zoo earlier in the morning so it was great to see the nocturnal animals roaming around at night.

What fascinating creatures the Orangutung are. Everyone in the group has photos taken with them. And then we set off to look around the zoo.

We return to Singapore and go looking for cheap shopping, which weren’t to be found. However, we did manage to get lost while taking a so called short cut back to the hotel. We walked for ages over a hill, thinking to cut off a long walk around the base of the hill, only to get down the other side to find the area fenced off and locked. Much cursing ensued. Finally made our way back to the hotel very weary.

Next day we go to visit the Indian district to buy handcrafts and have lunch. After lunch we catch the cable car from the Harbourfront tower 2, over to Sentosa Island. Which is well recognised by the statute of the Merlion, the Singapore tourism icon. Sentosa means peace and tranquility and that is exactly what the visitor experiences on this beautiful island with its lovely nature walks.

On our last night we visit the night zoo and this is a truly amazing experience. All the animals that sleep during the day, come out at night. So the one zoo gives you the total experience.
More to come.

I had always wanted to go to Italy and especially Florence. However Paula convinced me that as we were going to be flying all the way from Australia, we should visit a few more place than just Florence.

After the excitement of planning the trip, with the fabulous travel agent from American Express, we set off from Sydney to Singapore.

What a pleasure it was to land in Singapore, the airport is just great with lots of beautiful orchid garden arrangements.

The ladies that we worked with at Medicare, brought us a cute little stuffed toy dog to take on our travels and he was called ‘Chilli’. His adventures will also be included in our travelogue.

We only spent two days in Singapore but they were action packed as there is so much to see.
The shopping wasn’t that great as the prices were comparable with Australia, which is not cheap.

More to come.
