The Beijing Olympic Torch Relay – Canberra 24 April 2008
The Olympic Torch for the games to be held in Beijing in August passed through Canberra today. The capital is the only Australian city that the torch will be going to. So we set off nice and early because the roads into the city center are all being closed off to through traffic. Canberra is in Bloom
Canberra is putting on its spring show and the trees are all begining to blossom now that spring is here. One of the main September through to October attractions in the ACT is Floriade in Commonwealth Park. Over one million blooms are set out to create a theme that has been decided on by the organisers. This years theme is Aussie icons, myths and legends. There are also cultural activities and events to keep the crowds entertained along with food and shops.
