Last week we drove from Canberra to Sydney to attend an affiliate marketing conference. This was an event that came out of the blue for us so it was a spur of the moment decision to attend. Now we’re used to travelling at a moments notice – in fact we prefer it – so only having a couple of days to book accommodation wasn’t a big deal for us. The Beijing Olympic Torch Relay – Canberra 24 April 2008

The Olympic Torch for the games to be held in Beijing in August passed through Canberra today.   The capital is the only Australian city that the torch will be going to.  So we set off nice and early because the roads into the city center are all being closed off to through traffic. So Val (husband) and I are in my car and are following Varinia (daugher) my three grandaughers – Ayla, Demelza and Ce’Nedra, in her car. Well what a wild drive this turns out to be. Canberra is in Bloom

Canberra is putting on its spring show and the trees are all begining to blossom now that spring is here. One of the main September through to October attractions in the ACT is Floriade in Commonwealth Park.  Over  one million blooms are set out to create a  theme that has been decided on by the organisers.  This years theme is Aussie icons, myths and legends. There are also cultural activities and events to keep the crowds entertained along with food and shops.  Entrance to the event is free and Floriade is very popular with touring groups.
