Our First Full Day in San Diego at Best Western Lamplighter Inn & Suites

Breakfast is provided by the Best Western Hotel so we were up early to make the most of this before heading out to take a look around. The Best Western Lamplighter Inn & Suites is in a good position if you have a car, which of course we don’t. So if you are like us and are relying on public transport, here are some instructions to help you get around. Leaving Las Vegas & Arriving in San Francisco

It is 4am and I am wide awake and have been since 2.05am. Then for some reason the alarms on our 02 PC Phones went off at 3.30am even though they were set for 4.30am. As soon as we are packed and ready we head down to check-out and then make our way to the airport in a cab. As it was so early we have no problems with traffic and we arrive at the airport by 5.30am. During our stay at the Golden Nugget Hotel and Casinowe ate at the Plaza Hotel and Casino’s buffet on numerous occasions for both breakfast and dinner. We arrive at the front desk of the Golden Nugget and queue for a couple of minutes before being called to the next available attendent. This lady (whose name escapes us but we think she is called Teri) proceeded to put us through one of the best check-in experiences during our US trip. As a treat, we decided to check into Caesars Palace for a couple of nights. We had walked through the hotel a number of times and just loved it so when we found a really cheap rate on their website for $150US per night for their spa package we decided to take it. We spent most of our time at the Grand Canyon at the Holiday Inn in Tusayan which is approximately 2 miles from the entrance to the Grand Canyon National Park entrance. This is a really convenient spot to base youself while you are at the Canyon and it is reasonably priced, mostly because it is not right on the Canyon rim. After picking up the car from the Alamo car rental company near the airport we drove back to the Gold Coast Hotel and Casino which we had just checked into that morning. We drove into the Self Parking area of the hotel which is free. Anyone bringing their car will find it easy to park. The car park is large, with plenty of space to maneuver. The main reason for our trip to Las Vegas was to attend The Affiliate Summit which was held at the Rio Hotel so it made good sense for us to stay there during this time. Now this is a great little website for the seasoned traveller. www.seeyourhotel.com is a website that provides a map based facility to allow you to find hotels on a map. I had a quick play using New York as an example as this is where we will be heading off to in July of this year.
