Being a seasoned traveller over the last ten years, I have noticed many trends relating to technology over those years. Some are good, some not so. I am just putting this out there to reflect on what I feel is happening. Pre-technology (2001): These were the days when arriving at a hostel, you would check in, head to the common rooms, make conversation and see where things headed from there. If you were lucky the hostel may have had some internet access via a pay as you use computer, that would happily take your money or you would have to…

The Chianti region in Tuscany, Italy was already world-famous during the past centuries. British and German Romantic writers, Goethe among many others, discovered here a piece of natural beauty. Gently guided by the hard working hands of countrymen who reclaimed many hectares of woods to create a patchwork of combed cultivated fields, the natural landscape has ever since been the main asset of Tuscany. And the terroir of Chianti, with its distinctive asperities, is among the most suggestive of all Tuscan views. However, the word Chianti unavoidably evokes the homonym wine produced on this land. The very first wine to…

Entrance to Caesars Palace

For our last few days in Vegas we decided to stay at Caesars Palace. We had stayed here before on a previous visit but at that time we were given an upgraded room in the Forum Tower. This time, we were offered an upgrade for $50.00 but we declined and so we had a standard room in the Roman Tower. Check-in On check-in the guy checking us in tried to get us to upgrade to a better room for an extra $50 a night but since we had the upgraded room before and as we weren’t really all that impressed we declined…

Deuce Bus RTC Map

While we were in Las Vegas recently we found that walking the Strip can be  a somewhat tiring experience. Everything looks so close when you look up the Strip but as you walk along you find that there is quite some distance between casinos. And if you deviate off the main road into a Casino well it may take you quite some time to find your way out again plus it will definately add some considerable distance to your stroll. Fortunately, the two buses that service the strip and downtown are inexpensive to use and will help you to enjoy more of the…

Paris Hotel Las Vegas Review

Paris Hotel

After spending 6 nights at the Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas, we moved up the Strip to the Paris hotel for 10 nights. It’s a bit of a hike up the strip, especially with luggage, and we arrive at the Paris ahead of check in time so it’s a pleasant surprise to find that our room is ready. We are in room 1902 which overlooks the carpark and out to the airport. The last time I stayed here I had a room overlooking the Bellagio and the fountain. And as fabulous as the fountain is I have to admit to being…

Rita Rudner

We are on holiday in Las Vegas for a few weeks and after having seen Cher and Human Nature, we were wondering who to see next. There are so many great shows in Las Vegas so making that decision is not that easy. As we are staying at the Venetian we  finally decided to go and see Rita Rudner. I have seen her on tv a number of times and always found her to be entertaining and funny. The seating in this theatre is in rows which is more like I am used to when I go to the theatre. Unlike…

Human Nature in Concert

As we are here for 18 days we decided to take in a few shows and after reading many reviews we found that Human Nature – The Ultimate Celebration of the  Motown Sound”  is rated the #1 singing show in Vegas. This show is presented by the legendary Smokey Robinson. For anyone who is not familiar with Human Nature, the group comprises 4 young men from Australia who first got together while they were still at school in Sydney as “The 4 Trax”, and the members of the group are brothers  Andrew and Michael Tierney, Toby Allen and Phil Burton….

Cher's Costumes

We flew over from Australia to see Cher in concert as we are both avid Cher fans. We had read the reviews prior to going to the concert which gave us some idea of what to expect. So I have decided to write this review from both the perspective of a diehard fan and also from the point of view of someone who is not necessarily a fan. Our seats are up in the gods and we have a great view of the stage. We are sitting next to a sorghum farmer from Chicago, and we chat away about the…
