Next stop…Paris via the Eurostar!

After a great few days in London we hopped on the Chunnel Train to Paris. The Eurostar was a must do experience for us. We wanted to travel through the channel tunnel so we weren’t too worried that it might be more expensive than a boat trip across. Wanda wasn’t particular keen on travelling by boat anyway due to sea sickness. The Eurostar was comfortable but unfortunately our seats were situated in a spot where we didn’t have a complete window view and the people in front of us who had the full view up and went to sleep as…

Back To Canberra Via Cooma

We decided to take the inland road back to Canberra. This meant a very steep climb up over the Great Dividing Range through the South East Forest National Park.  We stopped just below the summit at a lookout area (as did a lot of other travellers). I think the lookout is just in the right spot for a break after such a daunting climb. The views are spectacular. After a walk around through the bush we hop back into the car and set off through the winding road to Cooma. Cooma is situated 2600 ft above sea level, in the…

Travel Light

Having never traveled overseas to anywhere other than between NZ, Australia and Fiji, I didn’t pack properly. Took way too much stuff, some of which I dumped in a rubbish bin and some of which I posted home at a horrific expense. Being a book lover I picked up some fantasic history books in London which then of course also had to be posted home as we were only at the start of our trip and I didn’t fancy lugging books all round Europe. My advice to anyone going to London and Europe is to take as little as possible,…

When in London you just have to visit the Tower of London, Harrods, Piccadilly Circus, Petticoat Lane and all those other places that are synonymous with the old country. We were so excited to be out and about and headed off to see the Tower of London by boat. Taking a boat trip to the Tower of London is very relaxing and gives you time to take in the sights.  I bet it was a lot less stressful for us than it would have been for all those people in the past who were taken to the Tower prior to…

Madame Tussauds – London

If you are heading into London then make sure you make some time to go to Madame Tussauds. For those that don’t know, Madame Tussauds is where you can see all your favorite stars, both old and new, replicated in wax. The figures are so lifelike that you often find yourself apologizing to someone you bump into, only to find it’s a wax figure. Here I am with a few of the rellies on the royal side. Bit stuffy this lot. Didn’t even get a cuppa. Thought the Duke of Edinburgh might crack a smile. The waxworks is a fun…

The London Eye

The London Eye is a great way to get a birds eye view of London. For those that don’t know, the London Eye is an observation ferris wheel. Unfortunately it  was fairly overcast on the day we went on it … this  is London after all…but we still got a great view of the city. The trip takes about 30 minutes and you are stuck in a capsule with about 20 other people but even so there is plenty of room to look out over London,  to move around and  to take plenty of  photos of the view. Above  is…

London here we come!!!

The day we arrived in London the temperature was over 30c so the trip to our hotel was a bit uncomfortable. Coming from Australia where the summers are hot, hot, hot means that everything is air conditioned so when you get into a mini-van in London with NO air conditioning with 10 other people on a really hot day and drive for two hours to get to you hotel you start to feel a little uncomfortable. Added to this is the fact that you have been sitting on a plane for 24 hours prior to this. The hotel itself was…

Singapore Zoo Night Safari & Day Visit

This is one thing that shouldn’t be missed. The Night Safari at the Singapore Zoo is a great experience. We took the tram ride through but you can follow a trail through the park. The animals are held behind barriers that are well hidden so it feels like there is nothing separating us from them. Overall this was a great experience and I would definitely go back again on my next visit to Singapore. We had been to the day zoo earlier in the morning so it was great to see the nocturnal animals roaming around at night.
