We awoke on the second morning in Paris to the sound of the street cleaning machines. Funnily enough we had been told that Paris was a dirty city. Well we certainly did not see any signs of the things we were told to expect. If anything the city was sparkling clean and the street cleaner came down our street with certain regularity every morning at around 5:30am. We breakfasted in the little restaurant in the basement of the hotel, on ham, a variety of cheeses croissants, cereal, fruit and juices. Everything was fresh and unpolluted with preservatives. More Pictures From the Louvre

The ceilings have  intricate patterns  surrounding the sky light. There is exquisite detail on the relief figures as they stand out from the wall. Just look at the size of these paintings. Here is another example of marble tiles and statues in the the courtyard.

OOH LA LA Magnifique Paris is Magnificent

To all you romantics out there – take our advice and visit Paris. We stayed at the Hôtel Louvre Saint-Romain which was a little hotel about 2 minutes walk from the Louvre. A great location in the city center at 5-7, Rue Saint Roch. The room was comfy and was decidedly larger than the one we had in London. Once we had dropped of our luggage, we set out to walk up the Champs-Élysées which is of course the most famous, fashionable street in Paris.
