The days starts out pretty ordinary, we have breakfast at the Terrace Cafe at El Rancho Best Western and then we go to the office to find out what there is to do in Millbrae until our shuttle at 7pm. It appears there isn’t anything to do where we are so, so we think we should go and drop off the bags and go back into San Francisco to spend a few hours. We left the Stamford Plaza Hotel in Sydney at 11:30am in the airport shuttle heading off to Terminal 1 to catch the plane to San Francisco. Check in was quick and easy and I changed some dollars at Thomas Cook, making sure I had plenty of one dollar bills for tips once we arrive in the US. I vow this is the last time I travel in cattle class. Leaving Brisbane for Sydney Day 1 of our trip to the US

When I booked this trip to the US through Expedia.com, I didn’t notice that the first leg was from Brisbane to Sydney.  That’s not a problem of course, it just adds an extra dimension to the trip. My granddaughter Ayla and her boyfriend Tim took us to Brisbane Airport to catch the 8:45pm flight to Sydney. Check in with Qantas didn’t take too long and the young man behind the counter was friendly and helpful.  We reached the gate in plenty of time, and of course the flight was delayed.
