Earlier this month our family gathered in Maleny to attend the wedding of my grandson Stephen to his lovely bride, Ella. The wedding took place at Secrets on the Lake and what a beautiful spot for a couple to get married. The wedding was at 3pm and Rowena, Jes and I arrived earlier so that we could take a look around. We were staying at Montville which is about a 10 min drive to the venue.
- Well there is no doubt about it, Secrets on the Lake caters for everything that a bridal party, their families and friends could want. It is just picture perfect. Keep in mind it is very hilly so a pair of flat shoes are definitely the order of the day for taking a stroll.
- We wandered down to the lower levels and came across this wooden throne.
- Of course it was a perfect photo op for Jes and I.
- Heading down a few steps we came to the bar area. And another photo op presents itself. This time it’s Jurgon, Rowena and Jes leading the way.
- Again you can see the lovely wooden carving of the bar. Everywhere we went there were amazing wooden carvings.
- Just one serious photo, please guys. Thank you.
- As we headed over a small bridge we spotted a large Goanna basking in the sun.
- Further on we came across a wooden swing.
- Jes and Jurgon took time out for a short swing break.
- My grandson Robert and his partner Bree crossing one of the wooden bridges leading on down to the lake.
- By this time one of my other grandsons, Eric and his partner Cat had caught up to us.
- Here they are at one of the tree houses. I just love the wooden table in the background.
- Unfortunately the clouds were coming over and rain was expected in the afternoon.
- We were all hoping that the clouds would blow over by the time the wedding was to take place.
- As we strolled around the foreshore of the lake, the sky was getting darker.
- It didn’t look promising for the wedding later in the day.
- Looking out over the lake towards the dam in the distance.
- This is the spot where the wedding was to take place. It looked lovely when all the chairs and flowers were arranged.
- Unfortunately inclement weather meant the ceremony had to be moved indoors.
- And here is where the wedding took place after rain settled in for the afternoon. Such a shame but the ceremony was just beautiful. And the view from the verandah out over the lake was just lovely.
- On our way back up the hill, we passed this lovely chapel.
- Another hidden spot where it was just pleasant to stand and listen to the sounds of nature, bees buzzing, birds singing and crickets calling.
- We took some time checking out each of the units, and they all had a spa bath and barbeque facilities.
- It was quite ironic because my daughter in law, Stacy is terrified of frogs and the unit they were given was called Two Frogs.
- There were frog carvings on the banisters leading to the unit, a large 3d wall hanging of frogs over the bed, a large frog stained glass window and this beauty – a wooden carved from mirror.
- The Two Frogs tree house also sported a large double shower with, of course, frogs on the tiles.
- The poor girl couldn’t take a trick, there were frogs everywhere.
- And then it was time to head off to back to our hotel in Montville to get ready for the ceremony.
If you are looking for a beautiful venue to get married then Secrets on the Lake have all manner of packages available at the and you can stay on after the marriage ceremony for your honeymoon.
