The weather is perfect so after shopping extravagantly at Mitre 10 in Nowra, where we picked up some really great cookware bargains, we went for a walk around the area adjacent to the shops to take some photos of the memorial statues that were erected to honour the soldiers who gave their lives in the 1914 – 1918 war.
So after paying our respects at the memorial we set off to drive up the Grand Pacific Drive. Our first stop was Shoalhaven harbour, which has a lovely beaches that are patrolled by surf lifesavers. You will also find some awesome surfing spots.
Next we drove on to Genoa and then back to Berry where we parked and walked through the township looking at the shops and cafes. This appears to be a very popular spot for out of towners to come to shop and eat. We stopped for breakfast at the Jetz Cafe in Berry on our way to Kiama. We both had the Eggs Benedict which was very tasty. The cafe was very busy and I can understand why because the food is not only tasty but reasonably priced.
We strolled around Berry doing a bit of window shopping and Paula picked up some candles with the view of making our motel room smell a bit fresher. Which didn’t quite work out because neither of us smoke and we forgot to buy matches.
There are a number of boutiques with very nice but somewhat pricey clothing. Then we happened upon Cuckoo Corner which had a number of Venetian porcelain masks in the window. This required further investigation and inside there were more very reasonably priced masks, and a wide range of grandfather and cuckoo clocks. This brought back memories as we both remember having had cuckoo clocks in our family homes as children.
Then it is back to Nowra where we decide to go to the movies to see Iron Man 2. I was actually surprised when we entered the theatre as there are two very large statues of Roman Senators on either side of the screen, which is not something I expected to see. The seats are comfortable and we enjoyed the movie.
Then it was back to our motel.
