We are on holiday in Las Vegas for a few weeks and after having seen Cher and Human Nature, we were wondering who to see next. There are so many great shows in Las Vegas so making that decision is not that easy.
As we are staying at the Venetian we finally decided to go and see Rita Rudner. I have seen her on tv a number of times and always found her to be entertaining and funny.
The seating in this theatre is in rows which is more like I am used to when I go to the theatre. Unlike the seating at the Human Nature theatre where we sat at a table. The rows are raised so we have an excellent view of the stage and being the hobbit that I am I don’t have to worry about having someone tall sitting in front of me.
There is nothing more annoying than going to a show and spending the night straining your neck to see around the person in front or just looking into the back of their head all night. A reason I have given up going to shows back home in Canberra, Australia. Anyway there is no problem with the seating at the Venetian and I have a perfect view of the stage.
Rita rudner comes onstage dressed in a lovely purple gown and the show starts. What an absolute doll. This is one classy and funny lady. Her act is somewhat subdued but the anecdotes and one liners that she delivers with great timing, are just classic. And do you know what? She doesn’t swear or drop the f-bomb at any time during the show. How totally refreshing.
I am not going to repeat her jokes here as that would be inappropriate, but if you are looking for some laughs delivered in Rita’s inimitable style then I thoroughly recommend you take the time to see her show.
Yes, it’s not a high energy show with a gazillion costume changes. Rita doesn’t bounce around the stage, she moves gracefully from one side to the other and she totally engages the audience. It’s a class act that is full of mirth with some really funny moments.
This is a show I would definitely recommend that you take in while you are visiting Vegas.
